What would you do?

What would you do if all of a sudden, your way of life changed dramatically?  Imagine waking up one morning or worse, in the middle of the night, only to learn that everything you knew….all you possessed…was gone forever!

Don’t laugh!  It could happen…still don’t believe me…look at the recent events in New Orleans or New York City. The fact of the matter is that things happen.  In a matter of minutes your life can be turned upside down.  So what would you do?  Are you prepared for the surprises that life often brings us?

I thought I was until I started reading about prepping.  I’m not talking about the typical hardcore prepper who used to be an assassin in the military used to surviving off the land for years on end.  I’m talking about having enough toilet paper to last more than a week.  Or maybe having some staples in the pantry to get us through a week or so in case Walmart is closed.

Yes, like everything else, there is a continuum.  On the one hand, you’ve got the guy who has everything he needs to survive for ten years inside an earplug bottle.  On the other hand, there’s the guy who can sometimes make it to the McDonalds without using his GPS Nav system.  If you’re like me, you fall somewhere in between.

So what’s important to you?  What do you consider must haves in order to be adequately protected?  In my case, I have a large nuclear family ranging in age from 76 to 2.  With that broad of a spectrum, it’s vitally important that we have on hand plenty of medical supplies.  I mentioned large…at any given time…there are 9 people who depend on my daily to house, cloth and feed them.  Do you realize how much toilet paper that equates to?

Anyways, this is my first blog post so I want to hear your comments.  What’s important to you?  Thanks for reading!
